Godaddy Cash Parking Case Study
The first post in my case study on using godaddy cash parking on over 40 domains.

Well I thought about it for a little bit and realized that it would be saving at least $2 per domain even at the bulk pricing and it came with several other things like free cash parking. After I hung up the phone, I realized that I was sitting on about 40 domains that I wasn't really using. Below is the list of domains I decided to park as well as some of the keywords that i entered for this case study.

Mosso is Down!!
Today I wake up to half a dozen or so emails telling me that various sites I run are down. What a wonderful way to start the morning. So I start looking into it and it turns out that 2 of the big database clusters at Mosso (a clustered hosting environment spun off from rackspace) are just not working correctly.
So most of the sites I manage are back up - the ones that are static and the ones that are not relying on these 2 specific mysql clusters. Sadly the 2 biggest sites I run are 2 of the ones on those clusters.
The upside in all of this? Well I will get a free month of hosting for downtime... The downside? Lost revenue, lost reputation, lost traffic, and potentially lost SERP. oh well - lets see how it goes!

Just Relax
If your flying - just accept the fact that there are delays, lost luggage, bad food, annoying passengers and get on with the trip. I try to fly jet blue so that I have the head phones and just watch tv and enjoy the flight. During my lay over I just play a game on my laptop or read a book - I gave up on trying to use the internet at most airports - as it is awful.
Bring your own snacks as the ones you ban buy in the airport are way over priced for what you get.
Check your luggage - nothing stresses me out more than having to sit with tons of luggage at the airport. Sure they might lose it - but you can always get new stuff later if you have to.
If your driving - drive on a less traveled day - or start earlier. When we travel for thanksgiving we always leave at 5 or 6am so we can beat the rush. Sure it stinks getting up - but it is far better than sitting in 3 hours of traffic because someone got in an accident.

Sounds good to me
This to me is a great move. I have been using an Ampd mobile phone on the verizon network for over a year now. It was a challenge to get it to work - but it works great. I look forward to the day when we can order any CDMA phone and use it on their network.
When I talk to other people about it - they just say that they like xyz carrier better, the problem is that Verizon works where I live and where I travel. AT&T, Tmobile, Sprint, et all do not.
I just hope that this helps to get some phones that run a better software package than the red VZW software.

Print All Your Emails Free - Thanks to Google!
Google today (April 1st, 2007) decided to announce a beta for a new program called "Gmail Paper" - this service will allow you to print out your emails for free. Google will print the emails out (pictures included) and deliver them to you via post in 2 to 4 days.
Sounds awesome doesn't it?
I thought so as well - and when I logged into my account I didn't see the Gmail Paper button - so I did a little more digging and sure enough its a joke - happy april fools day! I thought this seemed a little too good to be true!
While I don't really have many reasons to use this - I can think of a few emails that I would print - and I can especially think of all the photos I would print this way - since they said they would print photos as well...
In my digging I found another blogger who said that the ability to send a paper message via email - is actually a service available in India. They use it to deliver messages faster to people in rural parts of the country who do not have internet access. Now that concept is cool!

In Search of a new web host
Today we ran into some technical issues with our present host - hostgator - who up until now - has been absolutely amazing. However - tonight - using the addon domain feature - we were able to completely delete one record for a major domain of ours. In the process - of course - we are now going to lose all of the traffic to that site as well as gaining a lot of headaches.
So here is what I am looking for - a webhost - with cpanel access - and everything that hostgator offers - as well as technical support that will actually fix your account when it is broken. Additioanlly I am looking for a company that will take less than 20 minutes to respond in live support chat, as well as support managers who will tell you what is really wrong and not just respond with a standard answer.
I have worked with several webhosts - and this by far was a bad experience. Hopefully hostgator can fix this in a timely manner and I will be able to find a new host and transfer everything to. The only host that has been worse than this is CI Host - a company that continued to send invoices and non payment notices after we payed the bill - and had the audacity to threaten to discontinue service.

BoldURL - New URL redirect service - just launched!
I just got an email about BOLDURL coming live to today - I must say I like it a lot. BOLDURL is owned and operated by the same people who run ByoAudio - which happens to be my favorite place to record audio and host audio - and an easy way to add audio to a website.
At first when I looked at it - I thought that BOLDURL was just another url shortening site - the same thing as tinyurl that we have all seen half a dozen of - but I found out that it is that but a lot more.
BOLDURL allows you to create a user account - and then view tracking statistics for your urls. You can even put in amounts for how much you make per sale and how much you are paying per click.
Later on BOLDURL will be adding conversion tracking statistics - needless to say - this will only get better from here!

Fair Ads Network - Sink or Swim?
Fair Ads Network launched January 27th, they are making many interesting claims on their website - will it sink or swim? Only time will tell how this company will fair.
Fair Ads Network is stating that they will be paying you for every advertiser you refer - $8 per $100 spent and for every publisher you refer - $4 for every $50 earned. They have set a limit to the number of members that they will accept in the initial launch - 9,985. There are less than 1,000 now - so feel free to hop on board.
Fair Ads Network has an upgraded membership available - however - from what we can tell - it is by no means worth while for what they are offering at this time - later on - maybe - but right now - not at all...

Great Traffic Site!
We started using fivehits about 2 weeks ago. Since then we have seen leads in everything we promote in it - as well as increased traffic to our sites.
